Korea’s first jazz musical show will be performed at the Seoul Arts Center from April 5 until May 3.
“Sing Sing Sing” is the sequel to the 1995 show “Singing in the Rain” by Seoul Musical Company. It focuses on conflict and reconciliation between sisters, as opposed to brothers in the original.
Director Bae Hae-il said that as in “Singing in the Rain” he wants to show how important it is to understand and communicate between family members.
The story revolves around Lee Song, a retired music teacher who runs a jazz club, his student Yuna, and her sister Haena. The jazz club is where the sisters reunite and reconcile 10 years after they become estranged.
Yoon Yeong-seok and Jeon Byeong-uk are double cast for the role of Lee Song, while Moon Hae-yeong plays Yuna and Yoo Na-yeong Haena.
Professional jazz musicians will give accompaniment, performing songs live that were specifically composed for the musical by jazz pianist Jina as well as other great jazz numbers such as Benny Goodman’s “Sing Sing Sing.”
Tickets cost W35,000-45,000. For more information call 02-3141-1345.
