Jeon Je-duk to Hold Harmonica Concert

2009-03-26

Harmonica player Jeon Je-duk will give a solo performance for the first time in two years. Having released his third album “Another Story” consisting of hit K-pop songs last year, the 35-year-old musician will hold a concert under the theme “love songs played by harmonica” at Mapo Art Center in Seoul on April 11.

He will perform songs from his latest album, including “Gwanghwamun Love Song” by Lee Moon-sae, “About the Loneliness Called Love” by Yang Hee-eun, and Yoo Jae-ha’s “Sad Letter,” as well as jazz, Latin, and other music.

Jeon will also have time to share his life stories from childhood to the present day with audience. He will talk about what a hard time he had as a blind child, how he became a musician, the death of his mother, and his marriage and son.

He will also perform the janggu, an hourglass-shaped Korean traditional drum he used to play until he turned to the harmonica seven years ago, along with his old samulnori (traditional percussion quartet) members. He was a member of the famous Kim Duk-soo samulnori troupe, and won the grand and MVP prizes in the 1993 World Samulnori Competition and Festival.

Tickets cost W30,000-40,000. For more information, call 02-3274-8600.
