S. Korea Wins First Gold in Women's Basketball, Women's Volleyball in 20 Years

With just two days remaining until the close of the Incheon Asian Games Thursday, South Korea claimed its first gold in both women’s basketball and women’s volleyball in 20 years.
 
Team Korea defeated China 70-64 in basketball and 3-0 in volleyball. 
 
Bowler Park Jong-woo seized the gold in the men's masters discipline to win his third gold at the Incheon Asian Games. The 23-year-old scored 407 points against Hong Kong’s 401 points.
 
In taekwondo, South Korea won two more golds and one silver. Lee Dae-hoon won his second straight gold in the men's under-63 kilogram event and Lee Da-bin captured gold in the women's under-62 kilogram event. Lee Won-jin won a silver in the women's under-67 kilogram event, losing to China.
 
Kim Dong-hoon and Kim Beom-jun took the gold in the men's doubles soft tennis. They edged out the Taiwan pair 5-2. The bronze medals were shared by the South Korean duo of Park Kyu-cheol and Lee Sang-gwon and the Taiwan pair of Lai Li Huang and Ho Meng Hsun.
 
South Korea also grabbed its first gold in the women's modern pentathlon team event. The team made up of Yang Soo-jin, Jeong Mi-na, Choi Min-ji and Kim Sun-woo scored five-thousand-120 points, beating Japan’s total of four-thousand-760 points.
 
In handball, South Korea lost to Qatar 24-21 to clinch a silver medal.
 
The country also moved to the finals in the men's and women's regu events in sepaktakraw.
 
In the semifinal games held at Bucheon Gymnasium, the men's team beat Myanmar 2-1, while the women's team also advanced with a 2-1 win against China.
