Son Yeon-Jae Wins Rhythmic Gymnastics Individual All-Around Gold

South Korea’s Son Yeon-jae won the nation’s first gold in the individual all-around rhythmic gymnastics at the Incheon Asian Games on Thursday.
 
The 20-year-old scored a combined 71-point-699 points in ball, hoop, ribbon and clubs, beating China’s Deng Senyue with 70-point-332 points. Anastasiya Serdyukova of Uzbekistan claimed the bronze with 68-point-349 points.
 
Tickets to the highly anticipated event held at the Namdong Gymnasium in Incheon were some of the first to sell out for the Asian games with swimming star Park Tae-hwan as one of the spectators in the crowd.
 
Son also won a silver medal in the team event on Wednesday, making it the best record yet for South Korea.
