A career diplomat, Kim Kwang-sop was named ambassador to Czechoslovakia
in 1984. Three years later, he took up a teaching position at Kim
Il Sung University. In 1990, he was appointed roving ambassador by
the Foreign Ministry before being reassigned as envoy to Austria in
1993.
Though a son-in-law of Kim Il-sung, he is unlikely to enter the power
elite since his wife is only a half-sister to Kim Jong-il. She was
born to Kim Il-sung’s second wife, Kim Song-ae. |
