Veteran journalist Choe Chil-nam worked his way up from reporter
to editor-in-chief of the Rodong Shinmun, the official daily of the
Korean Workers’ Party.
In 1969, he joined the newspaper as a reporter and became deputy managing
editor in 1982, first managing editor in 1984 and editor-in-chief
in 1998. He was honored as the People’s Reporter in 1983.
Choe in 2000 greeted a visiting delegation of South Korean reporters
in Pyongyang and took part in a number of events. He also signed a
joint inter-Korean press agreement. |
