A large-scale free concert will open in Gwanghwamun Square in downtown Seoul next Tuesday when the nation will mark its 72nd Independence Day.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on Wednesday that the concert will open at 8 p.m.
The city government said it decided to hold the concert in Gwanghwamun Square in a bid to reenact the deep emotion that emerged during last winter’s anti-government candlelight vigils which took place at the square and to share the joy of the nation’s regained independence from Japan’s colonial rule.
The concert will feature performances by the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra as well as singers Han Young-ae and Jeon In-kwon who will perform with their bands.
As part of safety measures, roads on both sides of the square will be fully restricted between 6 and 11 p.m.
