S. Korean Group Sends Propaganda Leaflets to NK Despite Threat

A South Korean civic organization has sent anti-North Korea leaflets over the inter-Korean border amid a threat from Pyongyang that it would retaliate on the leaflet campaign.

Activists from Fighters for Free North Korea on Sunday launched ten balloons carrying 200-thousand anti-North Korea leaflets into the sky in Paju, north of Seoul.

The head of the organization, Park Sang-hak, said that in spite of any threats from the North, his group will continue sending letters of truth until the North Korean people achieve liberalization.

Meanwhile, about 20 members of the Korea Alliance of Progressive Movements held a news conference in Paju as well, calling for a halt to the leaflet campaign. The group said that sending anti-Pyongyang leaflets constitutes a dangerous act that devastates peace on the Korean Peninsula.

The North’s propaganda website, Uriminzokkiri on Saturday threatened that the North will attack South Korean activists if they launch anti-Pyongyang leaflets.
