Security Still Up on Nuclear Reactors, No Unusual Movements Seen

The nation’s main nuclear reactors are running normally on Saturday with no unusual movements detected, while officials are still maintaining heightened security around the reactors.

Workers at nuclear power plants in various locations, including Gyeongju, Uljin, Busan and Yeonggwang, are staffed around the clock in case of an attack from a group that hacked into the computer system of the reactors’ operator, the Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power Corporation.

Access to the nuclear reactors has been strictly controlled since Dec. 21 and all planned or ongoing construction operations have been temporarily shut down.

Control systems for the nuclear reactors have been separated from outside access, while the corporation's computer system has also been made inaccessible through external networks.

Computer usage by workers at the facilities is also being strictly controlled in case of another cyber attack.
