Winter Flu Continues to Spread in South Korea

According to disease control authorities, the number of winter influenza patients in their forties is on the rise, and the flu has already spread among young children and adolescents.

The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention conducted a week-long sampling inspection starting February 15th. The results showed 45-point-five for every one-thousand outpatients were affected by the virus, up three-point-nine from a week ago.

For every one-thousand patients under the age of six, 47-point-three were flu patients, up two-point-one compared to a week earlier. The number of flu patients aged from 40 to 64 rose to 29-point-eight from 22-point-five over the same period.

Meanwhile, the number of flu patients aged 65 and above rose from ten-point-five to 17-point-one per thousand.

The center issued a nationwide alert for the flu virus on January 22nd after the number of flu patients tipped over 12-point-two for every one-thousand.
