No New Case of MERS for 21st Day

No new infection of the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) has been reported for the 21st day.

The Health Ministry's MERS-response headquarters said on Sunday that the total number of confirmed patients during the current outbreak continues at 186 with the death toll remaining at 36.

No new cases of the deadly virus have been reported for the 21st day since July 6 and no additional deaths have been reported for the 14th day since July 12.

There are 12 patients still being treated but eleven of them have tested negative in genetic testing.

Quarantine authorities say that tests conducted on the one remaining patient are however showing mixed results.

Eight out of the 12 patients have been transferred to regular hospital rooms from sickrooms specially designed for the treatment of MERS.

Only one person remains under quarantine and will be released as of midnight Sunday.
