Former Prime Minister Kang Young-hoon Dies at Age 94

Former Prime Minister Kang Young-hoon has died at the age of 94.

The Korean Red Cross said that Kang, who had been hospitalized at Seoul National University Hospital, died of a long illness at 3:07 p.m. Tuesday.

Red Cross officials said that a public funeral will be held for the former prime minister, and the funeral committee will be jointly led by Red Cross President Kim Sung-joo, former Prime Minister Chung Won-sik and former National Assembly Speaker Kim Hyung-oh. 

Born in North Pyongan Province in 1922, Kang served as a legislator, the Red Cross chief as well as ambassador to Britain.
