Electric Car Charge Stations to be Installed at All Freeway Rest Stops by 2018

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said it will install electric car charging stations at all expressway rest areas by 2018 in a bid to expand the use of eco-friendly cars.

The government will also expand the scope of fuel subsidies, limited only to diesel buses until now, to compressed natural gas(CNG) buses in an effort to contract the number of diesel-powered vehicles.

The proposals come on the heels of the government's announcement on Friday of regulatory measures to improve air quality in the country.

The ministry plans to have 250-thousand electric cars and ten-thousand hydrogen-powered cars running by 2020. To this aim, measures will be sought to first supply mobile charging equipment, which is extensively used.
