NASA: April was World's Second Hottest in 137 Years

A UK daily says last month was the world’s second warmest April ever recorded, citing data by the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration(NASA).

The Independent reported on Tuesday that last month was nearly zero-point-88 degrees Celsius above the average for April from 1951 to 1980.

NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies(GISS) said last month was the second warmest April since 1880, when the modern temperature record keeping began.

The institute said the data was produced using monthly temperature readings from 63-hundred meteorological stations around the world, and showed, in particular, a significant five degree Celsius warming trend in the normally cold regions of northwestern Canada, Alaska and much of Siberia.
