Doctors' Association Advise Against Smartphone Use Before Sleep

The local physicians’ association has advised the public not to use smartphones two hours before going to bed.

It is one of the “Ten Health Commandments” announced by the Korean Medical Association(KMA) at the opening of its triennial academic conference, the Scientific Congress, at the Grand Hilton Hotel in Seoul on Friday.

The KMA said blue light emitted by smartphone screens can cause insomnia by disrupting biorhythms.

The other advice from the association includes warning against fine dust in addition to familiar health tips such as no drinking alcohol, no smoking, getting sufficient physical exercise and sound sleep.
