2 Ex-heads of Cyber Command Questioned over Alleged Election Intervention

The prosecution has summoned two former heads of the military cyberwarfare command as part of its investigation into the military body’s alleged political intervention under previous conservative administrations.

The two former commanders of the cyber command, Yeon Je-wook and Ok Do-kyung, are suspected to have led illegal operations to post political comments to influence the general and presidential elections in 2012.

Yeon was appointed as the chief of the command in 2011 and served at the post until October of 2012, while his successor Ok headed the organization until April of 2014.

Before summoning them, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office raided the houses of the two ex-commanders and confiscated their mobile phones, computer files and personal documents to collect the evidence of the alleged wrongdoings.
