Seoul Population Decreases for Sixth Year

The population of South Korea's capital has fallen for the sixth consecutive year.
According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government on Wednesday, the number of registered residents stood at ten-point-two million at the end of last year, down roughly 93-thousand from a year earlier.
The city's population density also dropped to a 30-year low to 16-thousand-861 people per square kilometer.
The average age of Seoul residents was 41-point-one last year. The figure is steadily rising after hitting the 40 mark for the first time in 2014.
Senior citizens aged over 65 accounted for 12-point-seven percent of the city's total population, up four-tenths of a percentage point from a year earlier.
