Prosecutors raided the home and office of a close friend of President Lee Myung-bak on Thursday in an investigation into a lobbying scandal involving Taekwang Industry Chairman Park Yeon-cha.
Some 20 investigators from the Supreme Prosecutors' Office searched the residence of Chun Shin-il, the head of Sejoongnamo Tour Company, as well as his company’s office in downtown Seoul.
Chun is under suspicion of having colluded with Lee Jong-chang, a former presidential aide for civil affairs, and Kim Jung-bok, the former head of the Jungbu Regional Tax office, to deter tax investigations into Park's company last year.
