Gov't to Enlist Help of Community Heads to Protect Youths

Police have announced plans to enlist the help of community leaders to protect children from sexual assaults.

The National Police Agency said Wednesday that it will select the “protectors of youth safety” among the heads of communities by late this month. The volunteers will begin their duties in August.

As part of their duties, they will report crimes in their area to the police, including children who fall victim to sexual offenders, school bullies or possible kidnappings.

They will also help police by checking on children whose parents arrive home late from work.

As of late last year, there were more than 90-thousand community heads nationwide.
