Gov’t: Domestic Economic Recovery is Not Sound Enough

The government says that the domestic economy is recovering on the back of improving consumer sentiment, and brisk exports and investment spurred by a global economic recovery.
However, in the latest monthly Green Book economic outlook report released Tuesday, the Finance Ministry cautioned that the domestic economic recovery is not sound enough due to a drop in production.
It said that although the recovery momentum is expected to continue in the second half of this year, risk factors remain both at home and abroad, such as the North Korean problem, trade issues and monetary policy shifts in major countries.
The ministry said that while working hard to manage the risks, it will focus on creating quality jobs and supporting an economic recovery through the quick execution of an additional budget in line with the government’s economic policies.
In its July report, the ministry said that the nation’s economic recovery was dragged by insufficient improvement in domestic consumption.
