Facebook Plans to Strengthen Cooperation with S. Korean SMEs

Facebook says it will strengthen cooperation with South Korean small- and mid-sized companies.

Kevin Martin, Facebook’s vice president for mobile and global access policy, revealed the plan in an interview with Yonhap News in Seoul Wednesday, saying South Korea is a technically advanced country displaying many innovative activities and thus an important market for the U.S. tech firm.

Martin said Facebook seeks to build cooperative relationships with South Korean firms and continuously invest in South Korea, adding it has various plans to that end.

He said the company will actively assist South Korean start-ups or existing SMEs in making inroads in overseas markets, while also strengthening contacts with the South Korean developers’ community.

Facebook also plans to create an innovation lab in Pangyo in the Gyeonggi provincial city of Seongnam in the first half of this year. He added the company will also strengthen cooperation with the South Korean government.
