KOSPI Ends Slightly Higher amid Canceled Inter-Korean Talks

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index(KOSPI) remained largely flat on Wednesday as investors held off from making transactions following North Korea’s decision to cancel talks with Seoul.

The KOSPI rose one-point-28 points, or point-05 percent, to close the day at two-thousand-459-point-82.

Pyongyang’s announcement that it would cancel high-level talks with Seoul and potentially pull out of a summit with the U.S. has led to renewed geopolitical uncertainty on the Korean Peninsula.

The tech-heavy KOSDAQ weakened, losing 12-point-65 points, or one-point-47 percent, closing at 850-point-29.

On the foreign exchange, the local currency weakened three-point-eight won against the dollar, ending the session at one-thousand-77-point-six won.
