Gov’t Aims to Keep Waters Clean around Yeosu Expo

The Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs will install a barrier at the entrance of the new port in Yeosu to prevent maritime waste from flowing into waters near the venue of the Yeosu Expo.

The ministry says the L-shaped, 200-meter-long by 40 cm tall barrier will float on the sea. The ministry will also run four clean-up vessels to collect maritime garbage near the event venue. A fifth ship will be mobilized if there is heavy rain.

Smaller boats will be stationed near the venues of major performances and events at the expo to manage quick clean ups.
