Exports Predicted to Grow for 9th Straight Month

South Korea’s exports are predicted to increase for the ninth consecutive month in July.
Vice Trade and Industry Minister Lee In-ho delivered the prediction in a related government meeting held at the Sejong Government Complex on Sunday.
The increase will be led by a two-digit jump in the shipments of semiconductors, ships, and petroleum and steel products.
The vice minister, however, cautioned against expanding downside risks such as a slowdown in the growth of oil prices and a stronger global trade protectionism trend.
Therefore, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy plans to focus on addressing trade issues with the U.S. and China and actively responding to international protectionist moves such as export regulations and non-tariff barriers. The ministry will also boost exports using the nation’s free trade agreement network.
