Samsung, LG Voice Concern that US Consumers will Suffer if Safeguard Measures are Imposed

Korea's electronic giants plan to take swift action if the U.S. imposes tariffs or restrictions on their washing machines.

This comes after a 120-day safeguard probe by the U.S. International Trade Commission ruled that imports of their washers have been hurting local manufacturers.

Upon hearing the result, Samsung Electronics released a statement expressing its disappointment, saying that import restrictions on its washers will only disadvantage U.S. consumers, with higher prices and less innovation.

Samsung said it will stick to its commitment to establishing a home appliance manufacturing facility in South Carolina. However, the company warned that safeguard measures could effectively hinder the facility's construction and operation.

LG Electronics also responded to the ruling, stating that it was American suppliers and consumers that chose to buy its washers and they will be the ones to suffer if safeguard measures are taken.
