N. Korean Media Outlet Covers Inter-Korean Talks Some 3 Hrs. after Talks End

North Korea covered the story of Tuesday’s inter-Korean talks some three hours after the high-level dialogue ended.

The North’s state-run Korean Central News Agency reported at around 12 a.m. Wednesday that the two Koreas met for high-level dialogue at the Peace House on the southern side of the truce village on Tuesday amid high expectations and attention. That report came nearly three-and-a-half hours after the talks wrapped up.

The report said that the two Koreas adopted a joint press statement after discussing ways to improve their ties and successfully hold the 23rd Winter Olympics that will be held in South Korea.

The report revealed the text of the joint press statement which had no mention of the word “PyeongChang.”

The North described the PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games as the “23rd Winter Olympics” and the Paralympics as “an Olympics for the disabled.”
