Top Office Convenes NSC to Discuss N. Korea's Abrupt Move

The presidential office has convened a meeting of the National Security Council(NSC) to discuss North Korea's cancellation of high-level talks with Seoul and threat to scrap a planned summit with the U.S.

The NSC meeting, chaired by National Security Adviser Chung Eui-yong, began at 7 a.m. Thursday at the top office.

The meeting came a day after North Korea announced its surprise decision to suspend high-level inter-Korean talks indefinitely citing the ongoing Max Thunder air drills between Seoul and Washington.

The meeting was attended by the foreign, defense and unification ministers as well as presidential Chief of Staff Im Jong-seok, National Intelligence Service Director Suh Hoon and ranking officials of the National Security Office.
