Moon to Fly to Pyongyang Via Direct Flight Route

South Korea's top office says President Moon Jae-in will fly to Pyongyang next week via a direct flight route between Incheon and Pyongyang.

Kwon Hyuk-ki, the head of Cheong Wa Dae’s press center, revealed on Friday the travel route for the president and other government delegates set to visit North Korea on Tuesday for a three-day inter-Korean summit.

The travel plan and some other details regarding Moon and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's first summit in Pyongyang were hashed out during working-level talks between senior officials from the two countries held earlier in the day.

Kwon said the South will send an advance team to the North on Sunday to help prepare for the summit, adding they will cross the border via a land route.

The two sides also agreed during the working-level meeting to broadcast major events of the summit live, including the moment Moon and Kim meet. Kwon said the North agreed to provide necessary conveniences for South Korean media coverage.

The agreements were signed by top negotiators of the South and the North, Kim Sang-kyun and Kim Chang-son, respectively.

Another Cheong Wa Dae official said the size of the South Korean delegation will be slightly higher than the 200 initially expected as the North consented to the South’s request to send some more working-level staffers.

The top office has yet to announce other summit details, including a specific timetable and the list of the South Korean delegation.
