S. Korean NGO Alliance Deliver Flour to the North

The Korea NGO Council for Cooperation with North Korea delivered 500 tons of flour to Pyongyang on Friday as part of efforts to support the communist following devastating typhoons and floods.

The delivered the 260 million won worth of aid to Gaeseong to help North Korean residents suffering from the natural disasters through the Inter-Korean Transit Office. It plans to deliver an additional 500 tons of flour within this month.

Eleven representatives of the council, which represents 55 domestic humanitarian aid donors to the North, crossed the border to the North to send the flour.

Five officials of the Jogye Order also visited Kaesong for a joint Buddhist ceremony and to hold discussions to provide aid to the North.

They are scheduled to meet with their North Korean counterparts to commemorate the fifth anniversary of holding joint Buddhist ceremonies between the two Koreas and will discuss ways to provide support North Koreans beleaguered by the recent floods.
