Gov't to Expand Investigation of S. Korean Abductees

The South Korean government is expanding its investigation of South Koreans abducted by the North during the Korean War.

A government official says it has only carried out research and investigations when people were reported abducted by family members and others. But he says from the end of the year, the government will seek out abductions on its own without any reports.

The Seoul administration says it assumes around 100 thousand people were abducted from the South by North Koreans during the war.
