Unification Minister Ryoo Kihl-jae says there have recently been signs inter-Korean relations are entering an icy period.
Minister Ryoo assessed the current inter-Korean situation on Friday at the National Assembly’s foreign affairs and unification committee. He cited as signs of chilling relations Pyongyang's sudden delay of family reunions and a recent statement criticizing the South Korean president by name.
Ryoo also said if the public wants to continue humanitarian assistance to North Korea regardless of Pyongyang’s provocations or threats, the government is ready to do so. But he added he believes unconditional aid to North Korea under extreme circumstances is not what the South Korean people want.
