The U.S. State Department has called North Korea's latest launch of 25 short-range rockets toward the East Sea a "provocative action" and continued to urge Pyongyang to exercise restraint.
In a written statement Sunday, department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said the U.S. is aware of reports North Korea fired rockets into the sea, and Washington is closely monitoring the situation on the Korean Peninsula.
Psaki said the U.S. government is calling again on North Korea to stop making provocative actions that aggravate tensions.
South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff earlier confirmed the North fired 25 short-range missiles from its east coast on Sunday. The JCS said it increased monitoring and maintains the utmost combat readiness to brace for more possible launches.
