Abe Calls for Seoul-Tokyo Talks with No Preconditions Attached

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said Thursday that the summit between South Korea and Japan should take place without any preconditions.

During the House of Representatives Budget Committee session Thursday, Abe said there are many tough problems between the two countries, but the two sides should have a frank conversation without any preconditions.

Noting that South Korea is the chair for the trilateral foreign-ministerial talks among Seoul, Beijing and Tokyo, Abe pressed South Korea to take the lead to reopen the three-way talks.

During the parliamentary session, Abe also said he will set up a litigation bureau under the ministry of justice to deal with the growing number of lawsuits that affect his country's reputation, including the wartime sex slavery issue.
