The United Nations says North Korea is suffering from food scarcity for a second consecutive year.
The Voice of America reported Friday that North Korea is on the UN Food and Agriculture Organization’s (FAO) list of 37 countries with a food security problem.
FAO said North Korea has secured 26-thousand-200 tons of foreign grain so far this year, only six-point-four percent of food the country needs to feed its people and livestock through October.
Of the grain it has already secured, one-thousand-700 tons were provided in aid, with the rest being imported by the North.
FAO predicted the North’s harvest will experience stagnation this year and that most North Korean residents will suffer malnutrition.
