South Korea and Turkey held a bilateral meeting of their vice foreign ministers in Turkey on Thursday.

The Foreign Ministry said Friday First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Tae-yong met his Turkish counterpart, Feridun Hadi Sinirlioğlu, in Ankara.

The two diplomats are said to have exchanged thoughts on various international issues, including Syria and the Islamic State (IS).

Cho said South Korea will strengthen its humanitarian aid to take part in international issues such as displaced people in Syria. Cho also said Turkey is taking on an important role in the Syrian refugee issue as an adjacent country.

Sinirlioğlu expressed hope that South Korea will attend the upcoming G-20 meeting in Antalya, Turkey in November.

Cho is expected to visit Iran on Friday to meet Deputy Foreign Minister Morteza Sarmadi.
