USFK Chief: Conflict with N. Korea Would be Akin to WWII

The commander of U.S. Forces Korea has warned that a conflict with North Korea could match the scale of World War II.

CNN said that General Curtis Scaparrotti made the statement while testifying before the House Armed Services Committee on Wednesday.

The report said that given the size of the forces and weaponry involved, any conflict with the North would be more akin to the Korean War and World War II.

He added that a conflict with the North would be "very complex" and probably incur high casualties.

The CNN report also noted that the U.S. military suffered 405-thousand-399 fatalities in World War II and 36-thousand-574 during the Korean War in the early 1950s while Korean casualties were in the millions.
