N. Korea Appears to Have Conducted Ground-Based Missile Test

North Korea reportedly conducted a ground-based experiment of its submarine-launched ballistic missile(SLBM) last week.

The Washington Free Beacon, a U.S. online media outlet, reported on Tuesday that the North conducted an "ejection test" of the developmental SLBM KN-11 last Wednesday at the Sinpo shipyard in South Hamgyong Province. The report cited the information from defense officials.

The report did not provide further details as Pentagon Spokesman Bill Urban refused to comment on “matters of intelligence.”

The test, if confirmed, would mean that Pyongyang conducted the test in violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2270, which was adopted just two weeks earlier.

The report comes after North Korea on December 21st conducted tests of its SLBM from a Sinpo-class submarine. The Washington Free Beacon reported on the test on January fifth.
