Suicide Attacks on Turkish Airport Kill 36, No S. Korean Casualty Reported Yet

A suicide gun and bomb attack on Istanbul's main airport on Tuesday has killed at least 36 people and injured 147 others.

According to AP, Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim confirmed that 36 people and three suicide bombers died in the attack, adding that some of the victims include foreigners.

Earlier, the Turkish justice minister was quoted as saying that the three assailants used AK-47 assault rifles in their initial attack before exploding bombs. He said one suicide bombing took place on a sidewalk outside a terminal at the Ataturk International Airport and another near a security gate.

No group has yet to claim responsibility for the attacks, but Turkish officials suspect it was carried out by the Islamic State group.

Seoul’s Foreign Ministry said there are no reports of South Korean casualties so far.
