Korean Language Becomes Option in Thai College Entrance Exam

Thai high school students will be able to choose Korean as a second foreign language when taking the college entrance exam.
The South Korean embassy in Bangkok said Friday that the Council of University Presidents of Thailand(CUPT) decided to include Korean as an optional second language in the college entrance test.
Currently, Thai students have the option to choose among six foreign languages — Chinese, Arabic, Japanese, French, German and Pali.
Thai education authorities are expected to bring the decision into effect beginning from next year.
Some nations, such as the U.S., Australia, France and Japan, have endorsed similar moves. Thailand is the first member country among the Association of Southeast Asian Nations to make the decision.
