Hillary Clinton Becomes Democratic Presidential Candidate

Hillary Clinton has officially been nominated as the U.S. Democratic Party's presidential candidate.

During the roll call vote on Tuesday at the Wells Fargo Center on the second day of the Democratic National Convention, the former first lady and secretary of state secured more than two-thousand-383 votes, which is a simple majority of the delegates to the convention.

Thanks to the strong support, Clinton confirmed her candidacy only 75 minutes after the beginning of the roll call vote.

The roll call went smoothly without expected disruptions by ardent supporters of Clinton's vanquished rival Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders.

Clinton has become the first woman in U.S. history to be nominated for president by any major party.

Now as an official presidential candidate, she will duel with Donald Trump for the ticket to the White House. Trump clinched the Republican nomination last Tuesday.
