N. Korean Inspectors Sent to Overseas Missions

North Korea has launched inspections at its trade representatives in Russia and China following a series of defections by its diplomats, grinding almost all operations at the offices to a halt.

Sources have confirmed to KBS that North's trade representatives in Vladivostok, as well as China's three northeastern provinces are subject to the latest probe.

In the wake of the latest reports on the defection by a trade representative from Vladivostok, inspectors are said to have entered the Russian Far East city through Dandong, China, which borders the North. Before returning to Pyongyang on Monday, they are said to have made stops at Changchun, Shenyang and Dandong.

North Korea has begun replacing personnel at the office in Vladivostok and notified offices elsewhere that there would be a reshuffle.

Sources say there was chaos at the North's Changchun mission after Pyongyang gave notice that there would be a full shake-up. All official activities at the office are said to have stopped.

It has also been confirmed that North Korea has canceled its participation at an international trade fair that kicks off in Yanji, China next week.
