A Taiwanese newspaper has reported that China is ready to look the other way if the U.S. launches a precision strike on North Korea’s nuclear facility.
The Taipei-based China Times earlier this week quoted diplomatic officials and scholars as saying that the Chinese government finished the preparation to ditch leader Kim Jong-un on the premise that North Korea will not collapse without him.
A diplomatic source in China said as long as the North Korean regime does not collapse, China will condone a U.S. surgical precision attack on a nuclear facility in the North and a decapitation operation against Kim.
The source claimed that the U.S. government initially planned to strike the North Korean nuclear facility early this year but has not followed through with it due to China’s opposition. However, the source added that China changed its stance after Pyongyang carried out its fifth nuclear test.
The source emphasized that Beijing will never accept the nuclear armament of North Korea, which is adjacent to China’s northeastern regions.
