Swedish Travel Agency Sells Walk-around Tour in Pyongyang

Foreign tourists will be able to go sightseeing in Pyongyang on foot starting next year.

Korea Konsult, a Stockholm-based travel agency specializing in trips to North Korea, introduced the walk-around tour on its Web site, calling itself the first company to launch such a program.

It said that with great photo opportunities, the tour will be the perfect occasion to have a close look at the daily lives of Pyongyang citizens and sightsee tourist destinations in the North Korean capital, including Kim Il-sung Square and the Juche Tower.

Separately, Radio Free Asia reported Thursday that the Australian travel agency “Tallis Journeys” is selling a trip to North Korea, which will be guided by a former British military officer.

Quoting a report by the British newspaper Daily Mail, the Washington-based international broadcaster said that some observers see the tours as a means for North Korea to attract more foreign tourists and earn more foreign currencies.
