Kim Jong-un on Int’l List of Press Freedom Predators

Radio Free Asia says an international nonprofit media watchdog placed North Korean leader Kim Jong-un on its list of 35 "predators of press freedom" in the world.
Paris-based Reporters without Borders announced the list on its Web site on Thursday, saying that only one type of journalism exists in North Korea, which "consists of relaying the regime’s propaganda in praise of the party, the army and above all the supreme leader."

Benjamin Ismail, head of the organization’s Asia-Pacific Desk, said that Kim Jong-un is the worst among the 35 leaders on the list.
In May, BBC reporter Rupert Wingfield-Hayes was expelled from Pyongyang after being detained for allegedly filing stories critical of the regime.
Other "press predators" include China's Xi Jinping, Iran's Ali Khamenei, Cuba's Raul Castro, Russia's Vladimir Putin, Egypt’s Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and the Islamic State, among others.

The report was issued to mark the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists Wednesday.
