"The enemies of our freedom and this alliance would do well not to test the resolve of this President, or the capabilities of the armed forces of the United States of America and our allies."

Speaking to American and Japanese troops on the USS Ronald Reagan in Japan, U.S. Vice President Mike Pence called North Korea the most urgent and dangerous threat.

During a separate interview with CNN on Wednesday, Pence said there will be no talks with Pyongyang for now.

“Not at this time. The policy that President Trump has articulated is to marshal the support of our allies in the region here in Japan and South Korea, nations around the world and China.”

Mentioning China’s ban on coal imports from the North, Pence said China is taking unprecedented steps to economically isolate the North.

He then urged Pyongyang to abandon its nuclear and missile programs.

“If they fail to do that, we've made it clear. All options are on the table.”

During the interview, Pence also said the White House's comments on the whereabouts of the USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier were not purposefully misleading.

On the recent revelation that the U.S. naval strike group was nowhere close to the Korean Peninsula over the weekend, Pence said Washington is sending an unambiguous message that the U.S. is ready to deter any North Korean threat.
