RFA: N. Korea Reinforcing Underground Bunkers against Possible Airstrikes

Radio Free Asia(RFA) reports that North Korea is installing and repairing protective walls that shield underground bunkers against airstrikes by cruise missiles.
According to the U.S. international broadcaster, Japan’s news outlet Asia Press quoted a North Korean military official in North Hamkyong Province as saying that the North Korean Ministry of People’s Armed Forces gave an order in mid-April to protect underground bunkers from airstrikes.
The move follows the U.S.’ Tomahawk cruise missile strike on a Syrian government air base early last month in retaliation against Damascus’ chemical weapons attacks on Syrian civilians.
Jiro Ishimaru, head of Asia Press’ Osaka office, told RFA that it appears certain that North Korea feels threatened by the possibility that the Donald Trump administration could launch a preemptive attack against it.
