Former US Ambassador to UN Criticizes N. Korea over Warmbier Case

A former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. says that the treatment Otto Warmbier, who was returned to the U.S. in a coma after being imprisoned in North Korea, does not make a good situation for improving the U.S.’ relationship with the North.

Bill Richardson made the remarks on Sunday on a radio program in New York, predicting the Warmbier incident will significantly complicate relations between Washington and Pyongyang.

Richardson strongly criticized North Korean leader Kim Jong-un over the case and called for a clear explanation.

The former U.S. Ambassador to the UN visited North Korea several times while serving as the governor of New Mexico.
