Reuters: Lockheed Martin Nears Deal to Sell 440 F-35 to 11 Countries

U.S. defense manufacturer Lockheed Martin will reportedly sign a deal worth over 37 billion dollars to sell a record 440 F-35 fighter jets to a group of eleven nations, including South Korea and the U.S.

Quoting multiple sources familiar with the talks, Reuters reported that the negotiation is in the final stages and the deal would mark the biggest yet for the F-35 jet.

The eleven countries include Australia, Denmark, Israel, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, Turkey, South Korea, Britain and the United States.

The deal will reportedly consist of three tranches over fiscal years 2018 to 2020.

South Korea’s Defense Ministry has sought a plan to purchase 40 F-35As from Lockheed Martin between 2018 and 2021.
