Trump Condemns 'Brutality' of N. Korea Following Warmbier's Death

U.S. President Donald Trump spoke out against North Korea following the death of American student Otto Warmbier who was imprisoned in the country for more than a year.

Trump said in a statement on Monday that the United States once again condemns the brutality of the North Korean regime as it mourns its latest victim.

The statement said Warmbier's death increases the "administration’s determination to prevent such tragedies from befalling innocent people at the hands of regimes that do not respect the rule of law or basic human decency."

The president said there is nothing more tragic for a parent than to lose a child and that he and his wife offer their deepest condolences to Warmbier's family on his untimely passing.

During a tech roundtable at the White House prior to the statement, Trump called the North a "brutal regime."
