CBS to Air Exclusive Interview with President Moon Jae-in

U.S. broadcaster CBS says it will air an exclusive interview with President Moon Jae-in on Tuesday.
Norah O'Donnell, cohost of "CBS This Morning" announced the interview in a live segment from central Seoul on Monday.
She said the relationship between the presidents of South Korea and the U.S. is incredibly important and that the alliance is one of the most important strategic alliances in Asia.
O'Donnell said Moon, in a break from his predecessors, wants to sit knee to knee with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. She said Moon has already created some distance from the United States, with one of his advisors saying that Seoul is talking about its own anti-missile program.
Speaking at a seminar in Washington on Friday, Presidential Special Adviser Moon Chung-in said Seoul may consult with the U.S. about scaling down South Korea-U.S. joint military exercises and the deployment of U.S. strategic weapons on the Korean Peninsula if Pyongyang suspends its nuclear program.
O'Donnell, who when she was young lived on a U.S. military base in Seoul for two years with her father who served in the U.S. Army, expressed concern about the 28-thousand U.S. troops stationed in South Korea.
Moon will visit the White House next week for a summit with U.S. President Donald Trump.
